Brian Meehan
From relatively humble beginnings with a small team (following a top class apprenticeship as assistant to Richard Hannon), Meehan trained 14 winners in his first season and it wasn’t long before Tomba, a high class performer over both six and seven furlongs, provided the all important first Group 1 success in the Prix de la Foret, and went on to land Royal Ascot honours in the Cork And Orrery Stakes. Another star has been Kaieteur, who provided further Group 1 glory for the yard and proved a real money spinner on a global scale.
However, the efforts of both of those (and other stable stars) have been eclipsed by David Junior, winner of the Champion Stakes at Newmarket and the Group 1 Dubai Duty Free at Nad Al Sheba in Spring 2006, and Red Rocks winner at the 2006 Breeders Cup.
